The Staff Accountant in Corporate Accounting is a key member of the finance team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various financial operations. This role involves managing cash operations using Kyriba, ensuring compliance with ASC 842 for lease accounting, managing prepaids and assisting with month-end and quarter-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is hybrid in office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote Thursday and Friday.

How You'll Shine:

  • Prepare Month-End Entries: Accurately prepare and post journal entries for month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP.

  • Monthly Account Reconciliations: Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are investigated and resolved. Maintain supporting documentation for all reconciliations.

  • Corporate Cash and Banking Accounts: Analyze, code, and reconcile corporate cash and banking accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.

  • Intercompany Transactions: Communicate and coordinate with affiliate partners to record intercompany transactions, ensuring all entries are accurate and timely. Analyze intercompany balances, propose clearings as needed, and resolve discrepancies. Maintain detailed records of intercompany transactions and balances.

  • Prepaid Expenses: Track and maintain prepaid expenses, ensuring proper amortization and expense recognition in accordance with US GAAP. Prepare journal entries for prepaid transactions and ensure accurate postings to the general ledger. Perform monthly reconciliations of prepaid accounts and resolve discrepancies

  • Governmental Surveys: Aggregate data and prepare required governmental surveys, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements. Submit surveys within specified deadlines.

  • SEC Reporting: Prepare reporting package schedules required for quarterly SEC reporting, ensuring all information is accurate and complete. Assist the SEC reporting team with tie-out and quality control procedures at quarter-end, ensuring all reports are accurate and compliant with SEC regulations.

  • Audit Support: Assist with fulfilling internal and external audit requests by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.

  • Ad Hoc Reporting and Analysis: Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by management, providing insights and recommendations. Support special projects and initiatives, including financial modeling and forecasting.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • CPA or CPA eligible is a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)

  • Positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Willingness to take on new challenges and continuously improve skills and knowledge.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being an effective team player in a collaborative, team-oriented culture.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively with individuals across various business functions.

  • Experience with Kyriba is a plus

  • Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion Financial Management is a plus

  • 1-2 years of general ledger accounting experience preferred (mix of general ledger, external reporting and/or audit experience acceptable)
