The AI Engineer is a technology-focused individual with strong knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science trends, responsible for developing and implementing AI/ML solutions. This role involves designing, building, and deploying AI models and systems while adhering to established AI design patterns and development frameworks. The AI Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust AI solutions that meet business requirements and technical standards. This position contributes to innovation through hands-on development of AI applications, model optimization, and integration of cutting-edge technologies. Success will be measured by the quality and performance of AI solutions delivered, adherence to best practices, and contribution to overall project objectives.

The AI Engineer reports to the Director/VP of Applications Delivery & Services to deliver robust AI and machine learning solutions based on best practice AI engineering that is well aligned with the SDLC process.

How You'll Shine:

• AI Development & Implementation - Design, develop, and implement AI/ML models and algorithms across the full AI stack including data pipelines, model training, APIs, and inference engines. Build scalable AI applications following established architectural patterns and best practices.
• Model Development & Optimization - Create, train, validate, and optimize machine learning models for various business use cases. Implement data preprocessing pipelines, feature engineering, and model evaluation frameworks. Ensure models meet performance requirements and quality standards. 
• Collaboration & Integration - Work closely with Architecture, Business Relationship Management, Project Management, and other IT teams during project lifecycle phases. Participate in solution design reviews and provide technical input on AI delivery approaches.
• Technical Implementation & Deployment - Deploy AI models and applications using containerization, cloud services, and MLOps practices. Implement APIs, user interfaces, and integration points for AI-driven applications. Ensure proper version control and CI/CD practices for ML workflows.
• Innovation & Research - Stay current with AI/ML technologies and frameworks. Evaluate new tools, techniques, and approaches for potential adoption. Contribute to proof-of-concepts and prototype development for emerging AI solutions.

Travel Requirements

• Travel: Less than 10%.  Travel to different business units or sites may be necessary.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
• Master’s degree or equivalent in AI, Machine Learning, or related is highly preferred
• Proficiency with development tools and environments
• Certifications in AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) preferred
• Cloud AI platform certifications (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google Cloud AI) preferredPC Skills with MS Office, or equivalent
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross-functional teams
• Experience translating business requirements into technical AI/ML solutions
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
• Knowledge of AI ethics, bias detection, and responsible AI practices
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance requirements

Core AI/ML Technologies:

• Proficiency in Python and/or R for AI/ML development
• Experience with major ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras
• Knowledge of core ML libraries: NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib
• Experience with Jupyter notebooks and development environments

Specialized AI Domains:

• Natural Language Processing (NLP) using libraries like Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy
• Computer Vision with OpenCV, PIL/Pillow
• Experience with Generative AI tools and frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI APIs)
• Understanding of deep learning architectures and neural networks

Data & Infrastructure:

• Data processing and ETL experience with SQL, Apache Spark
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their AI services
• Containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
• Version control with Git and collaborative development practices

Development & Deployment:

• API development using FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Experience with MLOps tools and practices (MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar)
• CI/CD pipeline development and automation
• Understanding of software testing and quality assurance practices
• Database design and management for AI applications preferred
• Web development and UI/UX for AI-driven interfaces (Streamlit, Gradio) preferred
• Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing preferred
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure as code preferred
• 4+ years of IT experience in application development or data science
• 2+ years of hands-on AI/ML development experience
• Experience developing AI applications in enterprise environments
• Experience with agile development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
• Demonstrated ability to deliver AI/ML projects from conception to production
• Experience in the hospitality industry preferred but not required

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
