The Senior Software Manager directs and manages teams for Travel + Leisure Co’s application development and delivery organization. Effectively delegates tasks while providing oversight and guidance to Technical Leads and Managers across multiple business domains. Manages teams in the full software development lifecycle in the development and support of new features, functions and capabilities and timely delivery of end-to-end IT solutions. Project work includes project oversight, leading workload estimations, management of timelines, resource planning and leading teams to meet deliverables on time and within budget. Provides technical and thought leadership in application development/software engineering and promotes best practices in these areas.
How You'll Shine:
- Leads teams performing technical design, development and implementation of enterprise systems integration and delivery initiatives. Ensures coordination of work with onshore and offshore vendors and internal resources.
- Collaborates with Project Management, Architecture, Quality and Release Management, Business Relationship Management and peers in Application Development to provision estimates, develop overall implementation solution plans, and lead development and integration efforts.
- Mentors, develops, and coaches team members in formalized solution methodologies, software development standards and tools.
- Responsible for recommending and integrating information technology with process improvement initiatives
- Execute all appropriate administrative and supervisory tasks related to the team including but not limited to budget management, resource needs, hiring, training, performance and merit review
- Maximize efficiency and productivity through effective utilization of resources and tools
- Performs other duties as needed
Travel Requirements:
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology / computer science, Business, or equivalent years of experience and training.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
- At least 7 years of broad and in-depth development experience using Java, J2EE, .NET and/or other leading technologies.
- Significant experience in one or more enterprise application development paradigms such as J2EE, .net, SaaS, cloud computing, API, SOA, web/mobile, etc.
- Strong knowledge of one or more programming languages, relational databases, data transformation and development frameworks
- Deep understanding of architectural recommendations and application development designs and estimations
- Familiarity with SOX/PCI and similar compliance protocols
- Deep understanding and familiarity with application architectures and enterprise application ecosystems
- Strong, proven experience with automated builds, deployment and continuous integration tools.
- Familiarity with Oracle, SQL, and Microsoft environments.
- Minimum 12 years of technical work experience in progressively responsible roles. Prior experience in a software engineering/development role will be preferred.
- Minimum 7 years management/supervisory of development organization.
- Minimum 5 years of managing large IT technology projects
- Minimum 5 years as a developer, analyst, engineer or technical support professional.
- Demonstrated experience in leading software development teams that cross platforms and technologies
- Experience in large 24x7 production IT operations.
- Vacation Ownership/Hospitality industry IT is a plus.
