The Sr. Director of IT Architecture helps guide the enterprise, proactively and holistically, through transformation and optimization initiatives, supporting the formulation and realization of digital, data and technology strategy and driving innovation opportunities.
The role will be instrumental in identifying and analyzing the enterprise’s business drivers and aligning a strategy and solution designs to support them. This includes creating and reviewing the architecture roadmap in alignment with the portfolio strategy and connecting the strategy to execution with solution designs, standards and guidelines. The Sr. Director will be a thought leader with a hands-on approach in developing a pragmatic architecture to bring in tangible and quantifiable results. They will focus on building relationships with business and IT stakeholders and are also responsible for contributing to the management and efficient execution of the architecture process in the organization, ensuring Travel + Leisure Co. architecture and technology best practices are followed and implemented.
How You'll Shine:
- Oversee architectural assessments and unbiased analysis of key decisions within projects including impact on systems, costs, business processes, timelines and other key variables in support of portfolio modernization and roadmap development. Provides guidance and direction to the architecture team on projects, ensuring overall fit with architecture direction.
- Manage the demand and capacity needs of the architecture team resources by developing a portfolio of consulting services, designed to meet business and stakeholder needs, and delivers in an agile and time-boxed way.
- Drives architecture practices, operating standards and governance process to orchestrate the delivery of business outcomes.
- Provides estimate of effort required for architectural tasks and artifacts as well as be able to manage time and interruption to meet project deadlines for delivery of architecture intents, frameworks and common classes.
- Coaches and mentors team members and is responsible for staff hiring, team oversight and yearly performance appraisals.
- Assesses disruptive forces impacting the organization and identifies technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable business strategy.
- Acts as a trusted advisor by providing consultative advice to business leaders and organizational stakeholders who seek actionable recommendations to make investment decisions using technology to make that change happen.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
- Experience or certification with one or more Enterprise Architecture Frameworks such as Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), Zachman or TOGAF Frameworks is a plus
- Certification with one or more leading technology frameworks and platforms is a plus
- Proven ability to relate technical issues to non-technical leadership and staff. Business acumen, ability to understand business processes, challenges and manage stake holder expectations is required.
- Accomplished leader who displays the persuasiveness, decisiveness and competitiveness necessary to motivate the team to achieve strong results.
- Proven experience and demonstrated effective facilitation (internal consulting) skills within a large organization
- Understanding of Business Process Management, Business Process Design, and Change Management.
- Strong architecture & design, software development experience or background.
- Very strong communication skills. Ability to interface and communicate with all levels of management and internal and external customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, problem solving and planning ability.
- Understand software architectures, frameworks, design patterns, infrastructure architecture and design, and data modeling.
- Knowledge of n-tier design and e-business technologies such as application servers, web server, portals, personalization, content management, web transaction processing, backend integration, API gateways, middleware and messaging.
- Familiarity with Oracle (Java, service bus, app server, reporting, database), Informatica (ETL, MDM, data quality), and to a lesser extent Microsoft (C#/.Net, database) technologies.
- General understanding of data architectures and DBMS technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of enterprise application integration (EAI), including SOA, API, open data patterns and middleware technologies.
- Exposure and understanding of existing, new and emerging technologies, and processing environments
- Experience with API, SOA enabled practices in context of technical agility and digital thinking is desirable
- 12+ Years of experience in at least three disciplines, such as business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, or operations in a multitier environment.
- Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible leadership in software development including some time in an architecture function.
- Proven success in strategic management, leadership, planning and organizational skills required.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering/enabling highly available, scalable and secure enterprise deployments.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFE) is desired.
- IT strategy enablement using SaaS, IaaS or PaaS architecture experience
- Excellent presentation skills, strong written and oral skills, business relationship skills including the ability to quickly create productive collaborations
- Experience in application software development methodologies, techniques, processes, and tools.
Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
