The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for the development, testing, staging and production environments for the applications within the Travel & Leisure Shared Applications group. The position serves as Software Developer resource in development, projects, guidance in support of the corporate application development initiatives. The position conducts ongoing planning and support of the applications, including tuning and monitoring.  Works with other team members to build and/or implement comprehensive integrated system solutions for IT customers, while maintaining a high level of service on production systems and anticipating future requirements, trends, and changes to assure current and future satisfaction of customer service within budget constraints.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs development and implementation of IT strategic plans, policies, procedures and quality assurance.  Helps with solution design efforts for varying sizes of critical applications and ensures standard operating procedures are being followed.
  • Ensures that disruption to client base is minimized through planning and testing of proposed software fixes and updates and adherence to strict change management processes.  Helps with coordination of efforts to partner with business units impacted by changes.
  • Ensures adherence to formal processes, standards and total quality practices in all activities. Ensures that programs and systems meet best practice standards for project management, backup, recovery, change management and business continuity.
  • Assists application services teams with technical support when required between Applications and other IT technical engineering groups, including operational, maintenance and modification of interfaces and reports, as well as general technical modifications.
  • Anticipates and identifies potential problems before they occur and implements solutions and schedules and prioritizes work, minimizing impact on projects and users.
  • Research and evaluate alternative technical solutions and recommendations for the most efficient, cost-effective, and innovative application solutions.
  • Provide technical specifications, test plans and implementation strategies.
  • Plan for migration to future versions of any relevant products in the technology stack.
  • Test and installation of new software, service packs, cumulative updates.
  • Work with extended IT team to coordinate application rollouts, upgrades, patches, and resolve any cross functional issues.
  • Provide user support and training for existing applications.
  • Adherence to incident management process (includes incident creation/update/closure, RCA, and action item follow-up)
  • Participate in business and technical reviews and provide insights, feedback, and recommendations.
  • Maintain documentation, including Governance, coding standards, procedures, and process definitions.
  • Communicate regularly and work closely with Management, IT project managers, database administrators and developers regarding the status of incidents and project initiatives.
  • Work with software vendor support to resolve product related issues and escalate as necessary within the Vendor’s Critical Accounts contact.
  • Liaise with end-users on clarification of incidents/problems and provide impact analysis when applicable.
  • Work closely with end users to identify and explain process and data discrepancies.

Requirements, and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience) with application development experience, specifically Service Now and Microsoft Power Platform / Power Automate.

Training requirements

  • Service Now Admin certification preferred.
  • Microsoft Power Platform Associate / Architect certification preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Hands-on, proven expertise and experience with implementations and application support of off the shelf and SaaS based applications, specifically Service Now and Power Platform / Power Automate. 
  • System Development Life Cycle - Methodology knowledge and practical experience.
  • Project Management Life Cycle – understanding of PMLC.
  • Understanding of Data Privacy including PII and PCI Compliance.
  • Ability to compose technical specifications, including requirements specification, API specifications, Functional specifications.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with IT management personnel, peers and outside vendors.
  • Strong functional, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in working with offshore consultants within a 24/7 support model.
  • Experience with XML and enterprise integration technologies including Web Services (SOAP/WSDL).
  • Experience with both cloud and on-premises technologies preferred.
  • Possession of outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent customer service and business relationship-building skills.
  • Strong business analysis background.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Job experience

  • Five (5) years of experience working with ServiceNow Platform: ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, CMDB, Discovery, API development for integrations, Integration Hub, Service Portal.
  • 1-2 years of experience with SharePoint Online Office 365 including SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate.
