The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely performance of various assigned functions in support of the month-end close and reporting process. Ensures the accuracy of financial statements, reports and data files for assigned resorts; in addition, reviews the financial results and provides communication to management. May identify and implement necessary controls whereby ensuring the Company's financial statements are reported in conformity with GAAP. May also be involved on special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and other requests from the sales, marketing, corporate, resort management, and/or finance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee monthly Night Audit process to ensure accurate and timely record of revenues in inventory system (RCC/Opera); review works of and develop Staff Accountant and/or Accounting Clerks; perform maintenance on related account setups in inventory systems.
Timely research and resolution of AR open items with exceptions reported to management for review and consultation.
Support monthly close process through identification and implementation of process improvements leveraging technological and system solutions to drive efficiencies.
Accurate preparation of assigned balance sheet reconciliations according to schedules.
Ensure accounting management is appropriately notified of accounting, internal control, and business issues as they develop in order to devise timely & appropriate action plans.
Special projects, ad-hoc reporting and other duties as needed
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting (Accounting strongly preferred)
CPA and or MBA preferred
Knowledge and skills
Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
Strong organizational skills
Ability to perform under pressure
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to develop and train staff
Strong Excel knowledge (function formulas, pivot tables, linked spreadsheets)
PeopleSoft General Ledger experience preferred
Experienced working with RCC and Travelclick, preferred
3+ years in a “month end / close general ledger” environment
Ability to work overtime to assist in financial reporting department deadlines
Hotel/timeshare experience preferred.
Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
