The Manager, Data Governance will provide leadership in how the organization defines, manages, controls and leverages information and data within business units and across functional domains.

This role is responsible for the implementation of data governance operational processes.  He/she will lead the analysis of issues in the governance of enterprise data, including problem, opportunity and solution resolutions.  This role is responsible for managing related tasks and activities to completion by collaborating with internal business owners and 3rd party vendors.  This person will collaborate with various business and IT groups to lead the creation of data policies, processes, standards, and communication.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and govern an enterprise Data Governance Implementation Plan, including strategic priorities for development of enterprise data assets.

  • Define roles and responsibilities related to Data Governance, and ensure clear accountability for data stewards, data custodians and Data Advisory Council.

  • Develop and ensure adherence of storage and archival policies

  • Develop and ensure adherence of plans for restricting sensitive data

  • Facilitate meetings of the Data Advisory Council

  • Create monthly Data Governance Newsletter

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical major required (e.g. Accounting / Computer Science / Business / MIS)

Training requirements

  • Working knowledge of current Data Governance theories.

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices

  • practical track record in data governance practices, business, and technology issues related to management of enterprise data assets

  • Knowledge of data-related governance regulatory requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, consulting, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with all levels and functions within an organization. 

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of application and Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Warehousing (DW) concepts.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Informatica Data Governance and Metadata Management/Business Glossary tools.

  • Familiarity with reporting and query tools, working knowledge of SQL and relational database systems.

  • A working knowledge of data architecture design principles and standards, including metadata and data modeling.

  • Software: Agile, JIRA, Snowflake, SAS, Power BI, Teams

Job experience

  • Five (5) years of large-scale data management and oversight experience

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels of the organization.

  • Prior experience implementing Data Governance programs. Experience managing metadata in a repository or supporting a data management program.  Experience with industry leading metadata and data quality tools.

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
