PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

At Wyndham Destinations our vision is to put the World on Vacation, in your position as the Hotel Accountant, you will actively contribute to the company vision of making holiday dreams come true by:

  • Assist in producing accurate and timely management and statistic reports reflecting the
  • performance of the nominated business units or properties.
  • Ensuring tight financial controls are maintained in accordance with group policies, procedures and accounting practices.
  • Actively contribute to the financial performance of the nominated business units or properties.
  • Maintaining financial forecasting and budgeting models

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all monthly reporting commitments within designated timeframes.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements in Peoplesoft with posting of all journals (payroll, intercompany, revenue and standard journals) ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets and monthly forecasts as it relates to the nominated properties under the positions control.
  • Preparing and finalizing all business units or properties cash books and posting of monthly cashbook journals for the RMBW Team.
  • Assist the RMBW Team at month end to post all adjustment journals after review of monthly management packs.
  • Ensure the balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and cleared appropriately.
  • Ensure the intercompany accounts are reconciled monthly and appropriate controls are in place to minimize discrepancies.
  • Download and prepare monthly reports and statistical data (GST, PIF’s and STR) for management packs and report presentation.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the monthly SOX journals submission in accordance with US compliance and regulations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly consolidated debtors reports.
  • Actively contribute to ensuring internal controls are in place and working effectively to protect and contribute to the financial performance of this group of companies.
  • Report on and control capital expenditure.
  • Maintain audit trail integrity and assist with annual audit queries.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Workplace Health and Safety ensuring the safety of yourself and all other people who may be effected by your conduct in the workplace.
  • Show integrity in all aspects of the position by doing the right thing, taking responsibility and delivering on the promise.
  • Support others within your team and empower them wherever possible.

KEY POSITION CRITERIA:

  • Accounting degree / or qualification - CPA / CA desirable but not essential
  • Excellent understanding of accounting controls required for a hospitality business
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written
  • Knowledge of Property Management Systems
  • Exposure to Trust accounting under a Management Rights business model
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with offsite Resort Managers
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
