Job Description

The Director is responsible for the management and administration of the casualty and property claims program. This role would consist of the direct management and leadership of external claims professionals dedicated to support work comp, guest (GL) liability, automobile liability, property claims and other claims globally. On a secondary level, this position will provide oversight, guidance and authorization of claim-related financial transactions for third-party claims administrators. In partnership with the T+L Litigation team, this position will also provide insurance claim support for litigated tort cases arising from the managed HOA program. This position will also provide direction for the Riskonnect RMIS , and other ancillary insurance underwriting and placement needs in support of the Vice President.

Responsibilities
1. Casualty and property insurance claims program leadership
• Responsible for directing the Company’s insured and self-insured claims process including all property, liability, and workers’ compensation claims.
• Establish standards and coordinate the activities of the Company’s third-party claim administrators.
• Manage and supervise the day to day activities of the Workers’ Compensation Consultant.
• Select, educate and develop a 3rd party team of claims professionals to adjust 3rd party liability claims incidents arising from managed properties.
• Develop techniques to evaluate the performance of each claims professional, and the performance of the claims team as a group
• Conduct regular claims meetings with third-party administrator (TPA) to provide insight, guidance and authorization for TPA-managed claims
• Conduct semi-annual formal claims reviews with TPAs to provide technical expertise, identify trends and strengthen relationships.
• Provide technical expertise for coverage interpretations for various policies in the insurance portfolio
• Ensure insurance carriers are properly notified and regularly updated on high profile and large-exposure claims.
• Respond to various insurance inquiries from internal customers and 3rd parties
• Participate in the education and training of T+L employees of claim processes
• Partner with Safety on Risk Control programs that are conducted regularly to deliver proactive Risk Control activities aimed at reducing liability exposures at resort locations.

2. Manage other insurance coverage claims
• Review and investigate incidents and claims to minimize loss exposure
• Provide insurance coverage direction or support to internal counsel to collaborate litigated claims
• Review complaints, pleadings, discovery requests and investigative documents and assist internal counsel in defending the insured cases in litigation
• Partner with excess insurance carriers on complex cases
• Set case reserves in accordance to industry practices and to assure data accuracy to support actuarial adequacy
• Analyze portfolio-wide legal expense by reviewing defense spend by case
• Maintain and update litigation reports used to communicate with senior management and other departments
• Participate in monthly litigation case reviews with senior management and Legal
• Review GL and AL insurance claims invoices form carriers and TPAs.
• Collaborate with claims liaisons on broker team with the incident triage process, data management and reporting

3. Lead RMIS system implementation and management
• Provide oversight and direction to the Sr. Finance Analyst on the project to implement the RMIS system and decommission Wynsurance.
• Oversee the gathering of underwriting information, complete applications, and the storage of claims data in the RMIS.

4. Contractual Risk Transfer
• Work with the VP, Risk Management to establish appropriate Company standards for contractual risk transfer.
• Review terms and conditions in contracts and leases to identify risk exposures, recommend risk mitigation steps, and modify insurance terms and conditions consistent with the Company’s risk transfer philosophy and insurance programs.
• Evaluate and negotiate insurance language in contracts, leases and/or operating agreements and, if necessary develop and recommend insurance language.
• Develop internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on various insurance and risk management issues.
• Provide formal training to various individuals and groups on risk management and insurance issues

Travel Requirements
Up to 20% travel as needed.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
State the specific levels of the following that are needed to perform the minimum duties of the job.

Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in business or similar field.

Training requirements
• ARM, CRM, CPCU or other Risk Management professional designations preferred.

Knowledge and skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• High level written and oral communication skills
• In depth knowledge of insurance program design, implementation, and administration.
• Ability to remain organized, work with little oversight, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to interact with and influence all levels within the organization.

Technical Skills
• Knowledge of insurance casual claim process and litigation process.

Job experience
• Ten (10) years p of progressively responsible corporate risk management, insurance company, or insurance brokerage experience in a global organization.

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
