The Interior Designer will support the Strategic Development team in Orlando, Florida.  The Interior Designer role provides design services for resort renovations. Key responsibilities include concept design, space planning, furniture, fixture and finish selection, FF&E budget management, production of installation documents, and construction administration. The Designer must possess strong presentation skills and the ability to act as the primary point of contact for resort management during the Design Development phase. The Designer is expected to understand hospitality and stay current on design and industry trends, as well as new product development.  The Designer is expected to work on multiple projects at once, occasionally in collaboration with other designers.  The Designer is expected to meet crucial project deadlines.  Other duties may be assigned.

How You'll Shine:

  • Pre-Design: Visit resorts to evaluate project scope and budget, meet with Resort Management and Construction Project Manager to capture design preferences, special requests, and property nuances. Partner with Construction PM to develop schedule. 
  • Concept Design Development: Research history of the property and generate thematic direction for the renovation.  Select furniture, finishes, and fixtures, specifying the highest quality that meets or exceeds FF&E Performance specifications and aligns with Wyndham Destination’s standards and brand direction. Periodic budget confirmation.
  • Create a digital design presentation to be presented to and approved by the internal Strategic Development Team, Resort Management, Operations VP or RVP, and the Resort’s Board of Directors.  
  • Develop and input FF&E specifications and submit to Procurement team for purchasing.  Periodic budget confirmation – requires collaboration with Procurement and Project Management team to align selections with budget.  Prepare ID Drawing Set (including overall plans, enlarged plans, elevations, and details) and additional required renovation/installation documents to be issued to the Project Manager and General Contractor.  
  • Answers RFI’s, review and approve submittals and shop drawings in a timely manner.  Partners with Construction PM to provide updates to Resort Management and Leadership. Supervise FF&E install as needed.  
  • An active passport is required for 10% of international travel.

What You'll Bring

  • Interior Design or Architecture degree from a 4-year accredited college is preferred.
  • Certificates, licenses, or program training for design related software and tools of the trade.
  • Must possess professional presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of Hospitality Design
  • Full understanding of the process of project delivery
  • Ability to time manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work alone as a self-starter as well as with a team
  • Proficient with Drafting Software: AutoCAD and/or Revit.  Intermediate experience with Revit is required.
  • Proficient with Visual Software: Adobe Photoshop & InDesign
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Specification writing software experience is desired
  • 4+ years of work experience as an Interior Designer
  • Hospitality/Hotel design background is desired 

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
