PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary function of the Financial Accountant is to accurately audit and process vendor payments in a variety of currency, while ensuring customer and client policy needs are met in a timely and efficient manner. This function is responsible for the specific coding needs and processing of supplier payments into RAS that meet the Payroll, VAT and Billing requirements of the departments with which Global AP partners. The position is responsible for research work surrounding disbursements made to vendors. The qualified candidate must be responsible, able to meet deadlines, flexible and available for overtime as needed during the payment cycle.

MAJOR DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee preparation of daily banking, petty cash management and cashier floats.
  • Coordinate and oversee end of month stocktakes with the Department Managers and Purchasing Department.
  • Preparation of monthly Statutory returns – VAT / STT/ FBT etc.
  • Daily update of cashbook, bank statement reconciliations and Opera day end close reports.
  • Collate timesheets for payroll processing and preparation of monthly payroll related general ledger reconciliations.
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc audits of food and beverage sales docket to identify voids, disputed payments and anomalies.
  • Actively assist in managing the PMS (currently Opera) ensuring reporting and user defined fields are maintained and reflect the operational requirements of the Resort.
  • Reconcile all subsidiary ledgers including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, guest ledger and deposit ledgers.
  • Assist with annual external audits.
  • Assist in preparation of the month end reports and annual budget.
  • Actively complete assigned General Ledger Reconciliations within timeframe.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Workplace Health and Safety ensuring the safety of yourself and all other people who may be effected by your conduct in the workplace.

  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Resort Accountant from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within Hospitality and Resort Operations
  • Minimal education requirements - Bachelor of Business in Accounting or similar
  • Strong understanding of taxation compliance requirements relating to VAT, Income Tax, FBT and STT
  • Highly developed understanding of accounting procedures and controls
  • Excellent understanding of accounting controls required for a hospitality business
  • Knowledge of Opera PMS/Micros POS and Attaché software will be considered an advantage
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
