Wyndham Destinations currently seeks a Senior Accountant. The individual in this role will be responsible for the accurate and timely performance of various assigned functions in support of the month-end close and reporting process. In this role, the Senior Accountant will record assigned journal entries, perform financial analysis and perform assigned Hyperion close functions in support of the monthly financial close process. The successful candidate will also help support the quarterly reporting and audit cycle by preparing reporting schedules, assisting with assigned audit requests, ensuring the accuracy of assigned financial statements, including researching and documenting variances of actual financial results to the budget and forecast so the variance analysis can be distributed and reviewed with department managers. This individual will also assist in special projects, financial analysis requests and ensuring the internal controls and financial statements are in conformity with GAAP. They will have a key role in the consolidation and reporting of WVO's financial results. The Corporate Accounting department records many highly visible and material adjustments and is the areas of the company in charge of ensuring the financial results are accurate before that are reported to the corporate headquarters. This department is also responsible for compiling and submitting financial schedules that are used in generating footnote disclosures on the quarterly SEC filings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate preparation of all required analysis and journal entries during monthly ledger closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Review capital spending for proper categorization and prepare new assets to be placed into service.
Review, monitor and recommend improvements to internal controls and assist the company with its SOX Compliance.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting data and processes and work cross functionally to design and implement changes.
Provide guidance and support to team members to help improve performance and develop technical competencies.
Assist non-finance departments with reporting and accounting issues and participate in financial projects and initiatives as assigned.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly/annual corporate reporting packages, and periodic/annual internal and external audits.
Interact with external auditors in providing required documentation.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with equivalent professional experience
Pursuing or previously earned active CPA certification
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail with exceedingly high quality
Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of practices and concepts associated with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Technical Skills
Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas, etc.)
Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Oracle and Hyperion financial systems helpful.
Job Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience
Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
