The Instructional Designer I (Instructional Systems Designer/ISD) is responsible for proactively reviewing training needs, presenting delivery media recommendations and developing learning solutions to address performance gaps identified by our business partners and/or assist in the development of our associates. The ISD utilizes instructional design and performance improvement processes to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate instructional materials and development programs. Deliverables include instructor led, blended, e-learning and m-learning instructional curricula, supporting job aids and other learning materials, communication and reference materials, and Train the Trainer sessions for facilitators.  The ISD creates instructional materials by developing understanding of business requirements and ensures that curriculum design and quality enhance learning effectiveness. The ISD works directly with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and develop training events that incorporate best practices in behavioral and cognitive sciences to effectively address business and performance issues and/or are targeted to improve on current practices. The ISD has ownership of all instructional materials to ensure that instructional quality is built into final project deliverables, and supports active maintenance of all curricula and its repository within the Learning Management System, SharePoint, and the departmental Shared Drives. The ISD partners with client SMEs and business key contacts in the creation, review, delivery, and update of instructional materials, and represents Learning & Development within the Project teams, managing multiple training assignments at a time.

Multi Media Courseware Design:  Design training programs and processes (including facilitator materials, outlines, activities, e-learning modules, videos etc.) for Wyndham Destinations Business Line clients (new and existing), with both operational and leadership topics. Develop course methods and facilitator/participant materials that integrate traditional instructor-led facilitation, blended approach, case studies, experiential learning exercises, and e-learning/m-learning modules.

Project Management: Manage multiple ISD projects supported by multiple Subject Matter Experts, Co-creators, content reviewers, and facilitators. Execute deliverables within established parameters of time and budget. Execute on the projects developed, ensuring alignment with Travel + Leisure Co.'s Leadership Competencies, L&D enterprise priorities and Corporate Business partner priorities.

Measurement, Reporting & Support:  Design, deploy and report on post-course assessments, and make recommendations based on results. Serve as an L&D SME and provide consultative and actionable support for the Learning Management System. Support the “Learning Consortium” LMS administrator user-base.

Facilitation:  Facilitates Train the Trainer sessions for the materials developed as part of the design process.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development / Adult Learning / Business Management or Instructional Design (or like discipline) of both self-paced and instructor-led training. Work experience can be utilized in lieu of the educational requirement.

Knowledge and skills

  • Working  knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology

  • Working knowledge of classroom and e-learning instructional design, text, video treatments\strategies

  • Knowledge of techniques for the evaluation of learning

  • Working knowledge of integrating courseware with a Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varying backgrounds.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. 

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a time sensitive environment.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Technical Skills

  • PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams), and ability to handle graphics and charts in these applications

  • Utilization and administration of SCORM compliant Learning Management Systems (Workday Learning)

  • Working knowledge of Courseware (eLearning) development software (Articulate Storyline)

  • Knowledge of remote meeting software (Zoom, MS Teams)

  • Knowledge of the Adobe graphic software suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign)

Job experience

  • 3+ years of experience with project management skills related to Training Content Development (including the technical skills listed above) desired

  • 3+ years developing learning experiences desired

  • 2+ years of hospitality industry experience desired
