PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

At Travel + Leisure Co., our vision is to put the world on vacation, In your position as the Japan Director of Operations, you will be accountable to drive business strategy locally and support business development to expand Travel + Leisure Co. footprint in Japan. You are also responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of hotels/resorts in Japan. Providing operational leadership, management, site policies and procedures and supporting the business support teams located in the Japan offices that support the ongoing expansion and development within the region, while engraining our Travel + Leisure Co. values across the country.

You are responsible and accountable for the overall success and operational management of Travel + Leisure Co. Japan. Going forward this individual will have a high level of influence over all facets of the business, particularly with regard to development, operating procedures and infrastructure. This position is required to work closely with all other support functions such as S&M, HR, Finance/IT, Legal as well as Development and Customer Experience.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include but not limited to:)

Leadership Responsibility

  • Provide exceptional and effective leadership to ensure the vision, mission and core values of the organisation. are put into practice by all associates.
  • Drive achievement of financial, operating and strategic goals.
  • Deliver, monitor and evaluate strategic and operational plans.
  • Work closely with the Travel + Leisure Co. Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to integrate Travel + Leisure Co. within the broader strategic and cultural environment of Travel + Leisure Co. Asia Pacific.
  • Display innovation through inspiring, creating and improving processes and products.
  • Show integrity in all aspects of the position by doing the right thing, taking responsibility and delivering on the promise.
  • Display leadership values by ensuring effective communication and respecting your peers and managers. Support others within the team and empower each other wherever possible.
  • Collaborates with other local and domestic colleagues to develop and implement consistent initiatives and best practices.

Strategy and Business Management

  • Develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain business growth and financial targets.
  • Oversee fiscal responsibilities such as budgeting, reporting and financial audit.
  • Conduct and monitor, in partnership with the ELT organisational strategic planning.
  • Maintain financial integrity and viability to ensure growth.
  • Participate in ELT strategic activities and common meetings pertaining to the strategic direction of Travel + Leisure Co.
  • Maximises revenue opportunities, creates innovative income streams and effectively monitors cost containment options.
  • Fosters positive relationships and maintains a harmonious environment at the properties for Owners, Guests, partners, property’s teams and team members.
  • Plans, implements and monitors property operations financial plans.
  • Actively promotes excellence in service delivery, performance improvement, and innovation in guest relations.
  • Prepare and present information for the ELT as may be
  • Meet all corporate governance requirements including compliance and support of corporate policies as they may relate to risk management, financial reporting, work health and safety and legislative/legal corporate governance requirements.
  • Other projects and duties as may be directed

Risk Management

  • Ensure that all reasonable directions given with regards to concerning health and safety are followed, to not willfully place at risk the health and safety of yourself or any person in the workplace.
  • Work closely with Asia Pacific BCP Manager to ensure suitable BCP plans are in place in the event of an emergency and are tested and ready to implement with a little disruption to business operations as possible.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Financial and operational performance (against targets).
  • Active and positive contribution to the overall Executive Leadership Team.

Further KPI’s will be developed in conjunction with the President & Managing Director, International Operations and/or his designate.

KEY POSITION CRITERIA:

  • Have experience as General/Country Manager in Japan
  • Proven track record of cultivating business acumen and in depth knowledge of diverse business functions & operating principles
  • Qualification in Business Administration/Management is advantageous
  • Fully understand the external competitive landscape coming up with strategies for expansion, growth and driving customer acquisition.
  • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to implement change and develop, and maintain a strong culture across a multifunction multi discipline operation.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task which includes excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in Japanese and English
  • Strong knowledge of numbers and a strong level financial analysis skills
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and a collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization.
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Persuasive with details and facts
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Confident, flexible with the ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
