The Payroll Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations and financial close for payroll accounting and will facilitate a timely and accurate month-end process including the following: 

  • Coordination with various other accounting departments to ensure all required entries are made in a timely fashion. 

  • Review and updating of monthly closing procedures schedule to ensure all tasks are completed and the Company's financial statements are reported in conformity with GAAP. 

  • Completion of all supplemental internal and external reporting requirements as determined by the corporate reporting department.

  • Obtain an understanding and knowledge of all payroll accounting related balance sheet accounts. 

The Payroll Accounting Manager will review financial statements, analysis and ad hoc reporting, and support and provide financial reporting to management. This person will provide leadership, train and develop the accounting team reporting to this position, as well as providing regular feedback and formal bi-annual coaching.

How You'll Shine:

  • Oversee the monthly close process to provide accurate financial reporting within the required timelines. Provide and generate monthly financial statements and reporting according to policies and procedures.  Review and updating of monthly closing procedures schedule to ensure all tasks are completed and the Company's financial statements are reported in conformity with GAAP.

  • Obtain an understanding and knowledge of all payroll related balance sheet accounts and oversee the completion and review of all payroll balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries on a monthly basis.

  • Review financial statements, analysis and ad hoc reporting, and support and provide financial reporting to department managers and senior leadership team.

  • Develop, train, manage and coach accounting staff, provide regular feedback and formal coaching bi-annually.  Hold monthly staff meetings to keep team informed of current issues and promote a team environment.

  • Assist with providing timely and accurate support to external and internal auditors for GAAP and SOX compliance.


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • CPA designation or equivalent preferred

  • CPP designation in payroll, or equivalent experience is a plus

  • Experience in timeshare, property management or hotel/rental accounting is preferred.

  • Reporting and analysis experience with General Ledger software is required.

  • General ledger close experience required.

  • GAAP financial reporting experience required.

  • Possess strong leadership abilities with good coaching and training skills.

  • Excellent professional communication skills, good organization skills, ability to multi-task & coordinate multiple projects.

  • Deadline conscious with strong drive, initiative and the ability to work well in time-sensitive situations.

  • Good presentation skills

  • Functional working knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.

  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems preferred

  • 7 - 10 years accounting experience (including 2-3 years in a manager position) including public accounting “Big Four” or Large National Firm and private experience preferred.

  • 4 – 5 years exposure to payroll processes preferred

  • 2 – 3 years of manager/supervisory experience directly coaching staff, reviewing goal setting and delivering formal evaluations and routine feedback.

  • Managing daily responsibilities of teams including 4 or more clerks/staff/seniors.

Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
