We are Travel + Leisure, the world’s largest vacation ownership company and now is the best time to join us as we build out our newly formed Travel + Leisure Digital Innovation & E-commerce Group. We are currently looking for a Principal Designer to join our UX/Design practice within our Digital Innovation group at our corporate offices in beautiful Orlando, FL.
Our owners want to travel the world to enjoy valuable well-earned time with their families and friends. They are looking to understand the value and options they have and our team helps to get them on their vacation. This role is integral to the design and implementation of those products that support their travel planning and maintenance of their ownership.
The successful candidate will provide digital design leadership for our prospective customers, current owners, and fellow associates. They will contribute to how the overall organization embraces design while leading multiple projects or sub-projects with a responsibility for communicating overall vision across their product line. The will be accountable for decisions at the portfolio level and will actively shape team dynamics through inclusion and close collaboration.
They will function as lead designer on multiple projects and operate as the key advocate for our customers throughout the development process. They need to possess a skillset that can translate business requirements into actionable research that will inform both strategic and tactical execution of the design process. They will have a clear understanding of user experience methodologies and ensuring the work produced is useable, intuitive, intelligent, and accessible.
The successful candidate will have experience leading teams as well as hands-on designing of large-scale digital experiences for commercial and enterprise level delivery. They will possess the curiosity to distill the inherent complexity of extensive business requirements and identify the right problems to solve. They will test and validate these opinions through research, usability testing, prototyping, and iterative product development to deliver usable, effective, and accessible experiences for our customers.
Essential Job Functions
Plays a key leadership role by spearheading design strategy. Develop and implement successful design strategies, outlining how the design team will create deliverables and implement them for the project. Work on the interaction design of our products and ensure they operate as expected, across platforms (i.e. wearables, mobile, etc. Champion ongoing improvements with leadership support.
Ensure user journeys work as expected, across platforms (i.e. wearables, mobile, etc.). Strong understanding of typography, color, iconography, and other graphic assets work cohesively to deliver usable, branded digital products that enhance Travel + Leisure brands.
Deliver visual user interfaces that reflect a strong understanding and practical application of how typography, color theory, iconography, and branding elements enable delightful interactive experiences for our customers across all devices.
Researching and defining the information architecture for our digital products to ensure they are obvious and logical to navigate while also extensible to ensure future proofing for growth and technological advances.
Leads and directs product teams to define, implement, and deliver digital solutions that will engage our customers. Manage collaboration with other teams to ensure success.

Bachelor or Master’s Degree in design, human factors or related field
Training requirements (licenses, programs or certificates)
Agile training is a plus but not required

Can move seamlessly between the concept, prototyping, and delivery stages of development.
Can translate customer behavior into an architectural system that supports great interactive experiences for our customers.
Act as the advocate for our customers throughout the design process and help team maintain focus on their needs when crafting our digital products.
Serve as the subject matter expert on our customers’ behaviors, needs, and values, throughout the design process.
Proficiency in using multiple methods (service map, user journeys, card sorts, persona/archetypes, etc.) to design and deliver interactions and experiences that benefit our customers and owners.
Experience integrating marketing objectives into usable and engaging interactive experiences.
Ability to successfully articulate a point a view while maintaining an ability to negotiate benefits in a highly collaborative and dynamic structure.
Understand both generative and evaluative research and its role in understanding our customers, building empathy, and delivering digital products that entices, informs, and entertains.
Experience with behavioral influencing through human understanding that drives designs to elicit an emotional impact from our customers.
Intuitive understanding of the industry with a deep knowledge for what our customers want and the way our products should work for them.
Thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere with the ability to move from one project to another seamlessly.
Other duties as required
Highly proficient in modern design applications like: Sketch, Figma, Adobe CC, etc.
Proficient in user testing to define and validate assumptions.
Rapid contextual prototyping to deliver solutions and answers for our customers and teams.
Experience interpreting web use analytics to determine key insights.
Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Slack or JIRA
Experience using GitHub or similar cloud-based versioning control system.
Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and ability to easily interface with IT development team members and leaders
Knowledge of mobile concepts including responsive web design, responsive delivery, etc.
Experience with Agile methodologies for project delivery.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Job experience (number of years, type/level of previous experience)
5+ years interaction design experience on consumer-facing digital projects/products (websites, mobile, and enterprise-level applications)
3+ years of leading teams of designers
Portfolio of samples from shipped products that details candidate’s role in the project process.
Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
